Abstract
Toplumların yaşam biçimlerini, alışkanlıklarını ve geleneklerini gösteren değerler; toplumların temelini oluşturan yapılardır. Eğitim ve öğretimde değerler aktarımı planlı şekilde yapılmalıdır. Ana dili öğretimi olarak görülen Türkçe derslerinde, değerler kavramımın aktarılması önemli konulardan biri olarak karşımıza çıkmaktadır. Bunu sağlayacak temel unsurlarsa Türkçe ders kitapları ve Türkçe ders kitaplarına alınan metinlerdir. Değerlerin ders kitaplarındaki metinler üzerinden daha anlaşılır ve somut bir şekilde bireylere aktarılabileceği düşünülmektedir. Bu bağlamda çalışmada, 2023-2024 eğitim-öğretim yılında MEB tarafından hazırlanan 6, 7 ve 8. sınıf Türkçe ders kitaplarındaki metinler, demokratik değerler bağlamında incelenmiştir. İnceleme “Learning to Give” kuruluşunun on demokratik değeri çerçevesinde yapılmıştır. Bu değerler; hayat, özgürlük, mutluluk arayışı, adalet, ortak fayda, eşitlik, gerçeklik, çeşitlilik, halk egemenliği, vatanseverlik olarak ifade edilmiştir. Bu amaç doğrultusunda çalışmada, nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden doküman incelemesi kullanılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda elde edilen verilere bakıldığında, Türkçe ders kitaplarındaki metinlerin demokratik değerler açısından yeterli olmadığı görülmüştür. Bununla birlikte metinlerde işlenen demokratik değerlerin sınıf seviyeleri ilerledikçe düştüğü saptanmıştır. Ders kitaplarındaki metinler incelendiğinde, bazı metinlerde hiçbir demokratik değere yer verilmediği belirlenmiştir. Aynı zamanda 6 ve 7. sınıf Türkçe ders kitaplarında “halk egemenliği” demokratik değerine hiç yer verilmediği görülmüştür. Araştırma sonucundan hareketle, Türkçe ders kitaplarında demokratik değerlere daha fazla ve belli bir örüntüyle yer verilmesi önerilmiştir.

Abstract
Values that show the lifestyles, habits and traditions of societies are the structures that form the basis of societies. Transfer of values in education and training should be done in a planned way. In Turkish lessons, which are seen as mother tongue teaching, transferring the concept of values is one of the important issues. The basic elements that will ensure this are Turkish textbooks and the texts included in Turkish textbooks. It is thought that values can be transferred to individuals in a more understandable and concrete way through the texts in the textbooks. In this context, in this study, the texts in 6th, 7th and 8th grade Turkish textbooks prepared by the Ministry of National Education for the 2023-2024 academic year were analysed in the context of democratic values. The analysis was made within the framework of the ten democratic values of the ‘Learning to Give’ organisation. These values are life, freedom, pursuit of happiness, justice, common good, equality, reality, diversity, popular sovereignty, and patriotism. For this purpose, document analysis, one of the qualitative research methods, was used in the study. When the data obtained as a result of the research are analysed, it is seen that the texts in Turkish textbooks are not sufficient in terms of democratic values. In addition, it was found that the democratic values covered in the texts decreased as the grade levels progressed. When the texts in the textbooks were analysed, it was determined that some texts did not include any democratic value. At the same time, it was observed that the democratic value of ‘popular sovereignty’ was not included in the 6th and 7th grade Turkish textbooks. Based on the results of the research, it is suggested that democratic values should be included in Turkish textbooks more and in a certain pattern.
