Abstract

Abstract

Social media is used in many areas such as news, gaming, sharing, social relations, gaining information and education. However, in some cases, excessive use of social media may cause addiction in individuals. This study aims to examine the social media addiction of preschool teachers in terms of several variables.  For this purpose, one of the quantitative research model, the descriptive survey model, was used. The sample of the study consists of 462 preschool teachers selected by random sampling method. Personal information form and Social Media Addiction Scale-Adult Form (SMDS-SF) were used to collect data in this study. The data obtained from this study were analyzed in SPSS program. Descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA and to determine the source of the difference Scheffe test were performed. As a result of the study, it was found that preschool teachers mostly used social media for daily news, communication and sharing. It was concluded that teachers' social media addiction does not differ according to gender, age and the purpose of using social media. Another important result of the study is that novice teachers have a higher level of media addiction compared to experienced teachers.
